The Beer Hall putsch also known as the Munich Putsch (11/8-11/9/1923) was the first plan by Hitler and his followers to take over the German government but it failed. They started by kidnapping 3 German politicians. One person he kidnapped was supposed to lead the putsch but backed out. After hearing he was scheduled to address a crowd in one of the biggest beer halls in Munich hitler and 100 of his followers surrounded the hall afterward Hitler entered and fired shots. It was planned for his followers to takeover government buildings in Munich but his plans were spoiled by the police force. The next morning ludendorff (who kidnapped the politicians) held a march of 2,500-3,000 of Hitlers followers. During the march 16 Nazis were killed by police. Afterward Hitler was sentenced to 5 years in prison but served less then a year
